Update: The Race organisers have delayed the start of the Antarctica Cup indefinitely. When a new start date has been confirmed, Boating Partners will review their strategy on race entry and advise accordingly.

The Antarctica Cup Race is a fully crewed non-stop race of 14,600 nautical miles circumnavigating Antarctica in a clockwise direction. The "greatest race track on the planet" starts in Auckland, passing the three most notorious capes on the plane -: Cape Horn, Cape Agulhas and Cape Leeuwin - and finishes back in Auckland some 45 days later. Each yacht sails under a national flag, and all crewmembers on a boat are of the same nationality. To give the most competitive racing, all race yachts are identica., ‘The ‘Antarctica Cup Class Maxi-Boat is a 25 metre maxi boat purposely created for the Race designed and built by a consortium of specialist designers and racing boat builders from the New Zealand marine industry.

The Antarctica Cup race marks the first of a series of races worldwide dictated by the needs of the sponsor partners. The event starts on Saturday 12th February 2005, and is the richest race in yachting history, with a potential prize money for the winning boat of €4,750,000.
