Round Britain Powerboat Record
Update 12 August 2005 - World Record Beaten
The Bradstone Challenger team is delighted to confirm
that at 10.10 on
Friday 12 August 2005 we smashed the outright World Record for the
circumnavigation of Britain in a powerboat. The time was 27 hours and 10
minutes. Two new world records were set; the outright record,
which was previously
held by Fabio Buzzi, was beaten by 3 hours, 41 minutes, 40 seconds,
and the 30 to 50 foot record which was beaten by 10 hours 39 minutes. Our
time of 27 hours 10 minutes is an average of 53.4 knots or 61.5 MPH
including all five refuel stops.
Thank you to everyone for your support
and encouragement during the
attempt. It was much needed and appreciated.
About Our Offer
This offer is based around an attempt to break the
Outright World Record for circumnavigating Britain's coastline in a powerboat;
a high profile, crewed, 1691 miles westward race against the clock: three
men, a high-tech boat, no sleep and high speeds in a powerboat. It's a
record filled with danger as they race at a staggering average speed of
80mph. It is a supreme tactical and endurance challenge. The Royal Navy
will be providing logistical and filming support throughout the record
attempt. A promotional programme incorporating a Thames launch and boat
visits and post-attempt corporate days in the Solent and on the Thames
accompany this.
Having smashed 4 world records last year in circumnavigating
Britain in 33 hours, 11 minutes and 4 seconds beating the old record by
an incredible nine hours and forty-three minutes, the crew are aiming
to go one better; to break all current records and go round the entire
coast of Britain in under 30 hours; it's arduous, ambitious, but it's
also achievable.
