The Round Britain Powerboat Record Attempt Crew

The Crew

World Record Team leader and skipper, Neil McGrigor, aged 42, was born in Kenya where he spent the first 8 years of his life. He obtained a BSc. in Engineering before landing, in 1984, a plumb job in Corporate Finance involved in mergers and acquisitions for Britannia Security Group plc. 1990 saw the founding of Teacrate plc where he was the CEO overseeing the company's expansion through a national depot network and acquisitions creating UK's largest and most comprehensive crate rental business moving over 5 million crates per year. A member of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club for 34 years has seen Neil race a wide variety of boats. Neil's new found freedom in 2002 focused the mind to endurance record breaking. 'If you plan it right, control it right, you will be alright'.

In June 2003, the determined demonstration of efficiency in action saw Neil lead his team to victory, smashing the under 30 foot world record for the powered circumnavigation of Britain by just under 10 hours in a time of 33 hours 11 minutes in the Blade Runner 'Revenger'. He also was quicker than the 30 to 50 ft World Record by some 4 hours. His success continued with the winning of the 2003 Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race in the Honda Cowes Classic Offshore Powerboat Festival.
