Volvo Ocean Race 2005-06
Update: Boating Partners were unable to secure a
title sponsor partner for either entry into the 2005-6 Volvo Ocean Race
so
will not
be competing. However, it is our intention to enter the 2009-10 Volvo
Ocean Race and we will be closely monitoring the development of Volvo
Event Management’s Pacific Basin Race in 2007. As both of these
campaigns develop, we will update all the relevant files and inform our
network of business partners. For more information, please contact
us.
The Volvo Ocean Race, is a fully crewed eastwards
circumnavigation of the world with stopovers in Africa, Australia, New
Zealand, South America, United States of America, Europe and the UK and
represents the pinnacle of ocean racing. Over the years it has received
massive exposure, mainly in its former guise as 'The Whitbread'. The
first
Whitbread left the shores of the UK in 1973 and has been run every
4 years since. Volvo were the trophy sponsor for the 1997/8 Whitbread,
then took
over the race in its entirety running the hugely successful 2001 -
2002 Volvo Ocean Race.
The Volvo Ocean Race has grown to become the most popular
and the most challenging ocean race that a professional sailor can undertake
as well
as being one of the greatest media events in the world. Boating Partners
believes it can emulate and indeed, exceed the commercial successes of
the previous races and aspire to the sporting goal of being
the winner of this race. Both aspects of the campaign carry equal importance
for Boating Partners. The resultant promotional values and benefits accruing
to the syndicate partners before, throughout and beyond the programme will
be considerable. |
