Volvo Ocean All Female 2005-06
Update: Boating Partners were unable
to secure a title sponsor partner for either entry into the 2005-6 Volvo
Ocean Race so will not be competing. However, it is our intention to
enter the 2009-10 Volvo Ocean Race and we will be closely monitoring
the development of Volvo Event Management’s Pacific Basin Race
in 2007. As both of these campaigns develop, we will update all the relevant
files and inform our network of business partners. For more information,
please contact us.

Boating Partners is pleased to announce
their aim of entering the world’s first fully funded, properly
supported and with adequate time to prepare and train, female crew into
the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-06. In order to assist with achieving this
unique and exciting campaign, Boating Partners Managing Director
Manley Hopkinson has enlisted the support of professional sailor Emma
Westmacott.
Boating Partners
views the Volvo Ocean Race as an ideal marketing platform for major companies
and the option of a crew of yachtswomen, as well as a men’s crew,
further widens the possible spectrum of brands that could be involved
with the ‘world’s premier ocean race’.
Emma Westmacott has enjoyed a successful sailing
career and is certainly no stranger to the Volvo Ocean Race, having been
involved in three previous race campaigns. In 2001-2002 she was watch
leader for “Amer Sport Too” in the race (VOR – formerly
the Whitbread Round the World Race-WRTWR), and was involved with the
campaign from the outset; running both team fitness and onboard electronics.
Emma also competed in the 1997-98 Whitbread Round the World Race (WRTWR)
aboard “EF Education”, as driver and trimmer. She was watch
leader in 1996, for the preparation to the same (1998) race aboard the
Australian All-Female WRTWR “Elle Racing”. |
