Aside from this, Emma has been involved in other
Round the World campaigns such as watch leader on ‘Royal and SunAlliance’,
with Tracey Edwards – the Jules Verne attempt – non-stop
record attempt around the world. Prior to this she skippered a number
of private yachts throughout the world.
Since the end of the last Volvo Ocean Race in mid
2002, Emma has spent her time sailing professionally in a very varied
field: from regattas in the Mediterranean to the local Solent circuit,
both as a trimmer and driver, and including, the Maxi and IMS class in
Sardinia, St Tropez and Mallorca. Most notably are - watch leader in
the 2003 Fastnet aboard Hellomotto – VOR60, and co-skippering “Skandia” in
the Round Brittany race with Sam Davies for Offshore Challenges as part
of the Figaro circuit. Emma also competed in the Formula 18 catamaran
worlds and UK nationals – the latter she won with Gavin Colby.
Plus in Winter/Spring 2002/03, Emma helped in the preparation of Ellen
MacArthur’s team to challenge the Jules Verne Trophy.
